Jay Shah: A Calm, Composed and Goal-Oriented Leader
(Utkarsh Patel)
Jay Shah is a name that has established its presence in global cricket leadership at a young age. At just 36 years old, he became the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), making him the youngest chairman in the history of the organization. This achievement is the result of his hard work and long-term vision.

Jay Shah’s personality is calm, composed, and focused on goals. He is known for taking quick decisions, relying on fact-based thinking, and embracing modern technology. His simplicity and professional approach have made him widely accepted and respected in the cricketing world. Jay Shah values discipline, responsibility, and leadership—values that have been shaped by the upbringing he received from his father, India’s Home Minister Amit Shah.

As the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah achieved several historic milestones. In 2022, the media rights deal of the Indian Premier League (IPL) worth ₹48,390 crore was completed under his leadership, making the IPL one of the most valuable sports leagues in the world.

The launch of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is another remarkable achievement of his tenure. It opened new opportunities for women’s cricket and provided female players with one of the best-paid platforms in the world. As President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Jay Shah also gave a new direction to Asian cricket by introducing new tournaments and encouraging young talent. He has also played an important role as Chairman of the Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee of the ICC.

During his tenure, the Indian women’s cricket team received equal match fees as the men’s team. He also promoted Test cricket and successfully oversaw the organization of major global tournaments hosted in India. For his contributions, he has been honored with prestigious recognitions such as “Sports Business Leader of the Year,” “Game Changer of the Year,” and “Excellence in Sports Administration.”

In the world of cricket administration, Jay Shah represents the qualities of an ideal leader—vision, hard work, modern thinking, and a deep passion for the game. He sees cricket not just as a sport but as a powerful force that connects people across the world. Under his leadership, cricket continues to grow in popularity and inspire young generations.

Young, determined, and efficient leaders like Jay Shah are a matter of pride for Indian sports. His journey proves that with dedication and a clear vision, any goal can be achieved. As Jay Shah belongs to Gujarat, it is natural for Gujaratis to feel a sense of pride in his achievements.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
