Parakramsinh Jadeja: A Story of Courage, Achievement, and #MakeInIndia Pride
(Utkarsh Patel)
The journey that started from a simple workshop in Rajkot is now shining on the global stage. Parakramsinh Ghanshyamsinh Jadeja (P.G. Jadeja) Chairman and Managing Director of Jyoti CNC Automation Limited is a person whose personality is a symbol of courage, decisiveness and tireless hard work. The 57-year-old businessman, who was born in the soil of Gujarat, has a net worth of $ 1 billion (about Rs 8300 crore) today and his company's market cap is around 18000 crore. He is not just a businessman but a visionary who has made the dream of “Make in India” a reality.

A unique blend of hot blood and cool thinking, Parakramsinh's personality is known as the “Angry Young Man”. An equation of enthusiasm, aggression and never giving up. He follows the philosophy of Osho and also meditates. He believes that “Change is constant, live in the present”. He believes in teamwork and has a vision to make his company a “Temple of Technology”. His ability to create big ideas from small things is extraordinary. When the Japanese company Fanuc did not treat him properly, he said “Never again!” and then developed a long-term relationship with Siemens. Such decisiveness shows the steadfastness of his personality.

On the path of life’s struggle, he abandoned hollow dreams and embraced reality. In 1986, while studying in 12th standard, Parakram Singh needed Rs 25,000 for an Under-19 cricket tournament. His father (a municipal employee) was not able provide enough money. This incident changed his life. He gave up his studies as well as his dream of becoming a cricketer. He learned mechanical skills by working on a lathe machine with his uncle. In 1989, he started Jyoti Enterprises with his brother Sahadev Singh Lalubha Jadeja by taking a loan of just Rs 33,000 under the Prime Minister's Employment Scheme. He started doing gearboxes and job work from a second-hand lathe machine and a small room. At that time, there were more than 160 lathe manufacturers in Rajkot and CNC machines were imported from Germany and Japan. Parakram Singh decided to break this dependence on imports and worked day and night.
Started making lathe machines in 1993. Built Gujarat's first CNC turning center in 1997 and started full CNC production in 2002. Acquired the famous Huron Grafenstadt company of France, established in 1857 in 2007. Which was a historic feat! Today, Jyoti CNC has installed more than 1,30,000 machines in more than 60 countries. Their machines are used in sectors like defense, aerospace, automobile and railways. Listed in 2024 IPO with 12% premium. The company has 2686 employees and an annual capacity of 6,000 machines. They have developed a vertically integrated plant, R&D center and foundry in Rajkot. They have announced an investment of 10,000 crores in Vibrant Gujarat. They have included making India self-reliant in CNC machines, providing employment to thousands of youth and taking the company towards Industry 4.0. They have received IMTMA’s Premier Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award (2013), Hercules Award and special honors.

A person of courage and goal-oriented hard work, Parakram Singh tells the youth that “Education is necessary but skill, vision and hard work are more important.” His work ethic conveys the message, "Be bold, set goals and work hard. Think small, but dream globally. Use negative experiences as inspiration. Embrace change and live in the present." Today, Parakram Singh tells the young entrepreneur who starts earning money from a small workshop, "Don't let your dreams die. With hard work and patience, one day you too will change the world."
This hero from Rajkot, Gujarat, has made Gujarat and India proud on a global scale. If you too want to become an entrepreneur, follow in Parakram Singh's footsteps... Dream, be bold and work hard!
